Citrine Wagtail

News broke of the Citrine Wagtail at Cley at 7.02. Within 1/2 hour I was at Cley and met Dave. We started towards Dauke's Hide, meeting Julian coming away. He suggested the bird might be better looked for from Bishop's Hide, so we made our way there. After a short while Penny phoned and, after a phone malfunction, we located the bird (with a text saying it was showing from Penny!) It was initially distant and it took a while before we had seen all the conclusive features. However, it gradually came closer, giving very good views in the fading light - even perched up preening and then in flight, where it gave one distinctive call. It was finally seen presumably going to roost in the reeds to the left of the hide. An excellent bird well found and identified by Mark Golley.

Ample compensation for missing the Bee-eaters (although both would have been nice!)
