Swanton Morley

Whilst waiting for the car to defrost both Jay and Stock Dove flew over, birds previously missing from my 'Route' list

What was supposed to be a quick visit to check to see if the diver was still present, turned into a 3 hour stay on Holkham Lake alone!
On the Lake was also a redhead Goosander and 7 Great Crested Grebe, amongst smaller numbers of local duck. A single Little Egret flew over, along with a calling Grey Wagtail. A large female Sparrowhawk caused a bit of chaos, as well as the usual small male.
Below is the usual view of Water Rail at this site, one seems to regularly go under this 'jetty'.
However, patience was rewarded as the bird tentatively walked out onto the ice, finding an open section and then preceded to 'fish' through the hole, absolutely brilliant!
